Revelations 6- The Seals

Revelation 6
The Seals
1I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.
3When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a large sword.

5When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. 6Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “A quart[a] of wheat for a day’s wages,[b] and three quarts of barley for a day’s wages,[c] and do not damage the oil and the wine!”

7When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

9When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” 11Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they had been was completed.

12I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, 13and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. 14The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.

15Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”

Your friend B.O.B. (Bug Out Bag)

When a disaster strikes or when something causes major civil unrest, then you’ll want to get out of town quickly.  You need to plan ahead! You’ll want to leave with sufficient supplies in case it’ll be a while before you can return home.

The following is a practical list of items you will want in your b.o.b.  Obviously you can add more as you see fit.  (Each person should have their own bags, but if you have children, you might want to make them smaller bags and carry most of their stuff along with your stuff):

  1. Some sort of back pack.  I use a  Jansport Suspension Pack.  You can see one here:  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v258/daliwolf/jansportsuspensionpack.jpg
  2. Get a good fixed blade knife.  I have several, but my favorite is a Swedish Mora knife, and you can see them here:  http://www.ragweedforge.com/SwedishKnifeCatalog.html
  3. 550 Paracord.  I keep two 50 foot lengths of it in my pack.  You can get that here:  http://www.ragweedforge.com/SwedishKnifeCatalog.html
  4. Hands free headlamp.  You can get those here:  http://www.ragweedforge.com/SwedishKnifeCatalog.html
  5. Water.  You need a gallon of water per person per day.  If you think you might be gone a few days, that is a LOT of water to carry…which is why water purification tablets are so important.  I would take as much water as you possibly can carry.
  6. Cooking pot.  There are lots of different cooking systems out there.  In my opinion, the more self contained, the better.  Here is a good one:  http://www.amazon.com/MSR-321158-Titan-Kettle/dp/B000FBSZF6/ref=pd_sbs_sg_1&tag=onlineinter01-20 but you can also get a pretty decent mess kit at Walmart:  http://www.amazon.com/MSR-321158-Titan-Kettle/dp/B000FBSZF6/ref=pd_sbs_sg_1&tag=onlineinter01-20 The important thing is you need to be able to boil water.
  7. You will need a pack stove:  http://www.walmart.com/ip/Century-Single-Burner-Stove/10966285 is a nice little inexpensive stove, but the propane canisters can get heavy when carrying them in your pack.  http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-Peak1-Micro-Butane-Stove/4722923 has ligther fuel, can burn in cold weather, and is just easier to carry.  spend the money and get the Micro Butane Stove (or a good multi fuel stove.
  8. High Calorie Food Rations:  A few cans of Tuna in oil, a jar of peanut butter, energy bars, and a bag of hard candy will energy, protein, and vitamins you need for a few days.
  9. A really good, lightweight sleeping bag is a must.   If you are in a climate that has the potential to be very cold, make sure you get a bag that is rated to be warm in freezing temperatures.  Sleeping bags are usually 20 to 30 degrees off, so if it says it can handle  32 degree temps, it’s actually more like 50 degree temps.  Get a better one.  http://www.walmart.com/ip/MAX-TRAVERSE-0-MUMMY/895615

  13. Knife Sharpener
  14. Folding Saw
  15. Folding Shovel
  16. Hatchet
  17. Leatherman – Multitool
  18. Solar/Crank Radio with built in solar charger
  19. Bug Spray
  20. Sunscreen
  21. Toothbrush and Toothpaste
  22. Hand soap and washcloth
  23. Towel
  24. Toilet Paper
  25. Fork and Spoon
  26. Tin Foil
  27. Trash Bags (get some leaf and lawn bags. They can be used for a number of things).
  28. Compass
  29. Whistle
  30. Duct Tape (best tool ever!)
